Renee Bingham
Relationship: Renee is Gary's wife of 29 years. She is also his business partner
in Bingham Motorsports Marketing. She has been his crew chief since his racing
career began until a few years ago when their daughters took over duties as crew
chief.
VP of Bingham Motorsports. Renee is responsible for all press releases,
portfolios, newsletters, etc. of Bingham Motorsports Marketing. She also helps
other racers who need information or presentations for sponsors.
Renee has been involved in drag racing almost as long as Gary. She and Gary
attended drag races when they were dating. She has accompanied him to the races
since he debuted his first drag car. She helped Gary in any way she could:
positioning him onto the track, working on the car, watching how the car worked,
helping solve problems, encouraging him to grow and improve. She supported his
decision to race and their theme became: "You can't win if you're not at the
races". But they still kept God and church first in their lives.
When one track seemed to be experiencing difficulty at an event, Renee went
to the control tower and asked if there were anything she could do to help. They
immediately put her to work writing E.T. slips for the racers. She has been
working in the control towers ever since. She worked her way through the various
positions in the tower including computer operator, starting, payout, race
control and even announcing. She worked at 3 local tracks for 10 years before
being recruited to work for IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) in 1990.
Renee began as assistant computer operator and is now the Chief Statistician
and Tower Co-ordinator. It is her responsibility to make sure that all the racer
data is correctly entered into the computer and that race results reach press,
racers, internet, sponsors and officials. IHRA president, Bill Bader, had this
to say about Renee: "Her commitment to excellence, her passion for accuracy, her
work ethic and her knowledge of racing is unequaled and beyond reproach!".
Renee won the IHRA Performance Award in 2000 in recognition of her hard work.
Renee works all IHRA national events but returns to pit crew duties, helping
Gary, Christy and Lisa with the car, at the Pro Am sportsman events.
